Ah, Iraq! where the internet has been down for days!
just a quickie to say we are all well, and the Academy in Erbil is
going FAB! I have 50 terrific kids, ages 7-15, including the son of
the Acting Minister of Culture, and the grandsons of the real
Mnister of Culture, who is in Vienna on medical leave. Great to
have bigwigs in the power structure as your new best friends in
Iraq! We are staying in a lovely olde-world Iraqi hotel, the
ChwarChra, with gorgeous glass panels and lights.
It's been a wild week, but the numbers all look great cuz these
kids are really talented. I've been SHOPPING in the downtown
bazaar, which is a book in itself, and returning again this morning
with Naz, the Minister's daughter. I found Kurdish flags in a
stationery store, so we're gonna add them to the finale with the
confetti sticks, a picture that will be worth more than a thousand
words!
Cross your fingers that the web is up still by tonight when I get
back to the hotel, as I have loads to tell all of you about the
trip from Sule to Erbil, and the first days of the Academy here. In
the meantime, have a lovely day and remember Your Miss Carole in
Iraq.....we're Singin' In The Rain in the middle of the desert,
where we all Put On A Happy Face cuz We Go Together, and You Can't
Stop The Beat in Iraq!
