EarthDance is a Global Festival for Peace
uniting over 250 locations in 50 countries
with music and dance in celebration of Peace.
A link-up of every EarthDance (big and small) across the world
simultaneously plays the Prayer for Peace.

Morning in the Australian rainforest, midnight in London, and sunrise
over the Himalayas, the Prayer for Peace (downloadable on
www.earthdance.org ) is a profound and powerful moment that unifies
our intentions for World peace and healing.
The Houston event is a family festival & benefit for Light Way Schools~
a new paradigm in education.

ART SUBMISSION DETAILS & guidelines =

1] ART may be abstract or recognizable subject, but we reserve the right to reject any work which in our subjective opinion does not represent Positive Affirmations relating to the values
of Peace which EarthDance represents. ARTIST MADE PRINTS ARE ALLOWED,
BUT ALL ART SHOULD BE ORIGINATED FROMTHE ARTIST.
This includes computer generated or ink-jet printed from artist's own work.
NO PRINTS FROM OTHER SOURCES. ALL COPYRIGHTS ARE RESPECTED.
Any artist who misrepresents their work is liable to copyright law.

Some examples of such work relating to peace might include images
which show, symbolize or DIRECTLY evoke high awareness and respect for:

~ Nature ~ Wildlife ~ Diversity ~ Cultures ~
~ Children ~ Elders ~ Life Stages ~ Connections ~
~ Indigenous Peoples ~ Elements ~ healing ~ humanity ~

Respect for FIRST NATIONS people (NATIVE AMERICANS) ~


2] ART MEDIUM & SIZE - All are acceptable, and efforts will be made to show all work received that meets
acceptability requirements within our restricted space.

3] ART READINESS = All materials must be ready for showing. No wet paint or any wet surfaces.
Art with chalk, pastels, or any materials which can lift, beerased, or create dust should be sprayed
with fixative at least 1 dayprior to the day of the Festival to allow for drying.

= 2-DIMENSIONAL ART SHOULD BE READY TO HANG. Generally this means a picture wire securely
attached across the back low enough to not show when hung and strong enough for the weight of the
particular piece.

= FRAMES are not required. FOR PAINTINGS ON STRETCHED CANVAS, many
artists create a finished look by painting the visible edges. It is RECOMMENDED that
art on other surfaces be framed for the protection of the art and to allow for hanging,
but art may also be placed on illustration board. Some artists then place their work
in plastic envelopes, sleeves, or shrink wrap for protection until the buyer purchases
a frame.

4] ART DISPLAY - We will attempt to hang all art that is ready to hang. However, we reserve the right to determine how to display each piece. Large artmay be set on the floor against a wall. Small Items may be stood or laid on a table. Our choices in presenting the art may be determined by how it is readied for display.

5] ART DROP OFF & PICK UP - THIS IS A ONE-DAY SHOW. ARTISTS ARE REQUIRED TO PICK UP ANY ART THEY DROPPED OFF WHICH HAS NOT SOLD ON THE NIGHT OF THE EVENT. All art not picked up on time is subject to disposal. If an artist has someone else picking up their art, written and signed notification is requested, so we do not give your art
away to the wrong person!

7] FEES, ART PRICING, DONATIONS, ARTIST % =
THERE IS NO FEE TO ENTER THE ART AUCTION. However, we do request you come to the event.
The suggested donation for every festival goer is $10. It would be greatly appreciated for every art participant to contribute this minimal donation amount.
= ART PRICING. This is a silent auction and meant to be both a fundraiser for EarthDance Houston and an opportunity for local Houston Artists to be recognized and sell their art.
We recognize that artists deserve to be paid for their work. EarthDance Houston will receive 40%of any art sale, and the Artist will receive 60%. The artists should set their own bottom
price INCLUDING THE 40% to EarthDance Houston.
EXAMPLE - ARTIST BOTTOM PRICE IS $60. So artist sets a bottom bid of $100.
If the art sells for the bottom bid, EarthDance Houston receives $40 and Artist receives $60.
Of course, bidding can rise according to interest of buyers.

= Moderately priced items are often easier to sell, but we are open to any price range work.

8] * INSURANCE & RESPONSIBILITY BELONG TO THE ARTIST. ARTIST WAIVES ANY LIABILITY TO EarthDance Houston & Ecstatic Dance Houston in case of damage or loss from any cause &/or theft, or in the case an artist breaks copyright law. While we do not foresee such situations - nor have any history of such in prior events held by us - each artist must consider the personal and professional value of each item to self in making such decision.

9] ENTRY FORMS - All art MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY:
ENTRY FORM WITH LIABILITY SIGNATURE/ DATED for each art item.

10] ART SALES & ARTIST PAYMENTS - ALL SALES WILL BE COMPLETED ON THE EVENT NIGHT, PAID IN FULL
BY THE BUYER BY CASH, CREDIT CARD OR CHECK. If sold, ARTIST will receive 60% payment of selling price for their art. Checks will be issued from Ecstatic Dance Houston TWO WEEKS after the event.

11] OPTIONAL - BIO &/or additional ART INFORMATION - Potential Art Buyers are often interested and possibly swayed to purchase by interesting details about the story behind the art or theartist. Please add this info if you desire, neatly typed.
Preferably on a 4X6 inch postcard or smaller. Attach to the art in some way that it can be seen from the front -
or so that we can remove it easily at the time of arranging the display - and tape to the wall or table.
