Dean Search

The H. John Heinz III College, newly created to incorporate the School of Public Policy and Management and the School of Information Systems and Management, is one of seven colleges within Carnegie Mellon.  This new educational institution creates an academic path that blends public policy, management and information technology.

The Heinz College seeks a visionary and contemporary leader who will continue to address the complex problems in today's community and broader society to further the public interest, and who will continue to expand upon the College's excellence in research and education.

The Dean of the Heinz College must have experience with interdisciplinary research and education and support for how this kind of research can contribute to resolving societal problems.  The Dean must have strong communication and organizational skills and relevant administrative experience.  The applicant must have academic credentials appropriate for a tenured full professorship at Carnegie Mellon.

The position is available on or before August 1, 2009.  To be assured full consideration, nominations and applications should be submitted by December 15, 2008.

Applicants should send a letter expressing interest in the position, a curriculum vita, and the names of three professional references.  Nominators should send a letter of nomination along with the nominees' vita.  All applicant information will be held in strict confidence.
