Diving this weekend...NOT!

I just checked the forecast and there are Gale Force winds predicted
for Saturday which is stacking 7' wind waves on a 7-9' swell! Sunday
is supposed to settle down a little but it might still be stirred up.

Also, I was down in Monterey yesterday and it looked pretty soupy
green/red at Breakwater (from the shore at least).

So, we're not planning any dives this weekend...

Just curious. Does it has something to do with full moon? Sat. is.

The two occurrences, red tide and the high seas might be seasonal (fall is here) but probably have limited or no lunar cause.

this puts us in peak tidal flow which could mean increased sediments in the water, i've seen dive reports mention 1st quarter and 3rd quarter moons being the best for visibility, since the difference between high tide and low tide is at its lowest.

I'm certainly no expert on reading the Sonoma Coast forecast and
predicting it's effect on a certain dive site.

But the forecast is calling for 4-6' Wind waves on a 7-9' NW swell
(basically the same as Monterey right now). My recollection is Salt
Point is not protected from the NW like Breakwater, I'm not sure if
there's a fallover site if Salt Point is undiveable.

Are these for Marine Bio? I thought the Salt Point dives weren't until
the the end of October?

Thanks for the link Giovanni! Tomorrow, lunar calendar 8/15, the moon is supposed to be the fullest/closest to the Earth of the year. Watch out for crazy drivers too. :)
