Something that I had completely forgotten was these small flying things.  They are mentioned at the very start of Empire, and then again a bit through it but I don't remember anything of them being mentioned again afterwards.

In fact, they are the only mention of a creature which isn't either a traditional earth one, or a giant traditional earth creature.  I wonder if that is something that would be done differently now?

I would love to put them in the wiki! Please send me the information about it and I will post it ASAP! Thank you so much for your help!

Let's see.  The first reference to them is Empire, chapter two:

"Felblings were the furry flying animals that people across collegium kept as pets."

p23 Tor edition (first printing I think)

In fact they are a real earth creature, but by a different name: think
nocturnal, sonar, insectivorous... :)

Ha! I was thinking bats, but I couldn't find any way to back that up. I tried searching for felblings, in case it was "bats" in some random language. :)

Along those lines, I found your description of Lowre Cean's birds--and Tinitha's reaction to them--rather hilarious.

Who said insects were all huge?

There are huge insects. That doesn't preclude the existence of normal-sized ones. I feel like they've been mentioned in passing in the books, as well.

Its an impression i held all this time for some reason.I dont really
know where i got this impression, so its quite likely to be that i
overlooked somewhere where it talks about small insects!
