Since 10.5.2, you can drop the Applications folder in the right hand
end of the dock and Control (right)- click and select list, and it
does exactly what this program does.... so I a at a loss as to the
purpose of AppMenuBoy

I admit, that AppMenuBoy made more sense when I first wrote it back in
the 10.5.0 days. But, there are enough differences between it and
Apple's 10.5.2 implementation that I thought it was worth posting the
AppMenuBoy source code:

* Apple's implementation doesn't follow aliases, AppMenuBoy does.

* Apple's implementation doesn't hide non-applications. AppMenuBoy
does.

* If a sub-folder contains exactly one application, AppMenuBoy
"hoists" the subfolder, so you aren't using your mouse to navigate a
twisty path of sub-menus with but a single item.

* Lastly, I wrote it to get practice getting applications to the
public.

So, use AppMenuBoy if you like, or not. It won't hurt my feelings if
if you shout to the rooftops that AppMenuBoy is useless. (Well,
actually, it will hurt my feelings, but I can take it.)

I was just about to ask exactly the same question but your post has
cleared things up for me. Although I'll probably stick with the built
in functionality for now (and move the non-app stuff, office trials,
etc. to another folder), your app is pretty slick - thanks for taking
the time to contribute it to the community.

Kind regards,

Sam
