A new study published in the Journal of Neuroscience indicated that
laminin degradation by MMP-9 induced neuronal apoptosis in a mouse
model of transient focal cerebral ischemia. Further, the highly
specific inhibitor SB-3CT blocked MMP-9-mediated laminin degradation
and rescued neurons from apoptosis.
