Hypothermia inhibits cytochrome c release after stroke

In the study published in the Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow &
Metabolism, the researchers found that cytochrome c release occurred in
two phases after transient global ischemia. Mild hypothermia protected
against ischemic damage by blocking the second phase of cytochrome c
release.
