Difference between n-grams and clusters

Hi sir,

What are the functions of n-grams and clusters . Can you tell me their difference and use in simple words? What we can check by using these two. Thanks

Hi Nadia,

To answer your question, clusters require a search term whereas n-grams do not. That is the only difference. In programming terms, the n-gram list is so massive that it needs a different database table to be stored. Also, I include open-slot n-grams. These are the two reasons why I keep them separate in AntConc 4.
