Hi! I am using AntConc (4.3.1) to do a corpus-assisted study of linguistic data that I have collected from social media. My corpus is a single text file (.txt) which contains thousands of body texts from individual social media posts. Each individual text (post) is separated by blank lines in the file. I was wondering if there is any way that AntConc is able to recognise these as individual texts in e.g. collocate tool? Or do I need to upload separate files in order for AntConc to acknowledge the boundaries for individual texts?

Best, Cornelia

Hi Cornelia,
AntConc has a special corpus loading feature in the Corpus Manager that lets you treat each row as a separate file. So, if your text file is organized as a set of rows, it should work. The example below would generate three files:
>>>
The cat sat on the mat.
The dog chased the cat.
The mouse ate the cheese.
>>>

I hope that helps!
Laurence.
