Blend script problems

So...the script for the automated blend for the fk/ik is erroring out so just trying this manually im completely lost. Rotates are fine but not translates.  As joints don't seem to have world space translate coordinates, apart from the first in the sequence, i don't get how the loarm can know where to be in space?. either way its not working. I can get  three discreet joint to behave proberly with a switch but not joints along a chain. Its great having the automated way if you understand it.

Maybe this could be done manually just with groups in stead of bones??
