Normal Weekend Ops with Night Jumps on Saturday Night...

Regarding the Night Jumps this Saturday…  A separate email will be sent out concerning this.  Individual responses will be required confirming certain details.  Thanks for all the support received so far.  Looks like it is gonna be a blast!

== Quote of the Week ==

“its not full moon”

"… fine, it will be proper night jumps then!!" – Graham Field!

== Last Week and Weekend ==

Some Tuesday jumping occurred.  Our patient and wonderful friends Lew Pilot, Rob V, Angie and Fred came through, got off to a late start but still made it all happen before sun set...  thanks for coming out on short notice and remaining patient when the group was late.

Thanks Bertus and Hein (not the brothers!) for getting up early, coming from far, and being there to help out on short notice with the Tandems last weekend.  Jasper and Graham got a number of AFF Students through a few more AFF levels, the Botswana crew came through, as did the locals... and some of the usual suspects!  Pieter Pilot you know you rock and we know pilots sometimes need to be forced to do this... having to fly an Angel up and down during the week as well, what a pleasure!

Note - 4th June Hein opens up a new drop zone in Kimberley, I hear there is going to be an Angel there for the opening.  Best of everything for Skydive Northern Cape Kimberley.

Remember folks - Never Fear Living!

== This Weekend @ SkyDive Rustenburg – 28th and 29th May ==

Opps normal throughout the day with Atlas Angel Uriel.  We have some Tandem Introductory Skydives booked in, and can facilitate single level AFF Instruction (AFF Levels 4-10), IPSs and CATS etc… as always we will do our best to assist with any progression.  Frederik is trying to get some Wingsuiters together.  Whatever else happens happens... all the usual suspects I assume.

Saturday wheels off 08:00ish.

Night Jump Briefing at Sun Set.

Sunday wheels off by democratic vote.

Suggest you modify your plans for the coming weekend to accommodate this Night Jumping opportunity!

All welcome - no PASA no jump, no log book no jump!

As a courtesy please let us know if you are coming out and what your intentions are.

Bookings are essential for Tandem Introductory SkyDives as well as AFF Ground School and AFF Levels 1 – 10.

== Chief Instructor Graham Field’s Comment ==

With the night jumps happening @ Skydive Rustenburg this weekend here are a few basic things to remember

- Keep it simple on your 1st few night jumps, they are a unique and fantastic experience and don’t need to be made complicated

- Open higher and make sure you have discussed landing patterns and separation within your group

- Land normally with a conservative setup, your depth perception is affected by low light and there is usually little or no wind @ RSC at night so expect fast landings

- Pack normally and use gear you are familiar with, your parachute doesn't know that its night so fly it and pack it like you would for day jumps

- Make sure you have all the illumination items required - lumi sticks on altis, a torch to check your canopy etc. We will light up the landing area sufficiently for safe landings

- Wear warm comfortable clothing but dont bulk up, its winter and will be cold esp those doing jumps from a higher altitude

I will be giving a full night briefing at sunset on Saturday – please read the requirements for doing night jumps at RSC this weekend in the separate email.
