== Last Week and Weekend ==

We had an awesome Thursday facilitating 15 Tandem Introductory
Skydives, 16 AFF Level 1, and 5 AFF Level 2 Skydives. Congratulations
to everyone. A big thanks to Tandem Masters Graham, Kallie and Cois
(coming up from Skydive Central). Hats off and a big thanks to AFF
Instructors Graham, Simba, Selwyn and Wolfgang - all students passed
all of their AFF Levels, with most First Jump Students doing styling
stand up landings. Thanks to Pieter Pilot and Lew Pilot for getting
us up to altitude all day and to everyone that worked hard to made the
action packed day run smoothly.

On the way to the South African National Canopy Piloting Championships
the www.AerialFX.co.za Team performed Parachute Displays at
Kloofendale Amphitheatre and at Bryandale School, with a Good Year
Pitts Special Double Inverted Skydiving Display at the very friendly
Heidleburg Airshow.

A fantastic smooth and relaxed South African National Canopy Piloting
Championships was held at Pretoria Skydiving Club. Congratulations
all competitors, and Judges... your contribution to the professional
developement of the sport of skydiving in South Africa is worthy of
medals itself. Thanks to PSC, Judges, Organisers, Pilots, Packers,
and everyone that had a part in the fantastic smooth and relaxed event
and the weekend generally.

A total of 40 loads were flown with Atlas Angel WWO and 4 on the
Compair (300 slots for the weekend). There were 3 new intermediate
competitors for Canopy Piloting - one of them being Graham Field, who
took the "Cat Award" for the person most determined to avoid swimming.
Jasper Williams took the "Duck Award" for the person that swam the
most with an awesome committed "seal like" landing on the beach
routine! Bailey Edmonds (jnr) took the Puppy Dog Award for the most
impressive running on water technique.

With 4 Generations of the family there to see it happen, taking
Overall Gold For Senior Canopy Piloting 2011, and getting his name on
the Peter Lawson Canopy Piloting Trophy for the 3rd time ... is
Christopher Teague.

Recently taking Overall Gold for Freefly Intermediate National
Championships at Robertson (with Team "Safety First")... Jean-Jacques
Wallis also took overall Gold for Intermediate Canopy Piloting 2011.

== Chief Instructor Graham Field’s Comment ==

Winter skydiving is around the corner so its important to get some
clothing that protects you from the worst of the cold but dont get
heavy
bulky items rather wear 2 thin layers under your jumpsuits. Also if
you must wear gloves then tackified gloves that you can still feel
your handles and gear is best. Obviously dont jump if you have a cold
or flu and cant equalise. Planes climb faster and parachutes like the
cold still air for fast swoops, so there is an up side... ;)
