Thanks to the thread linked below, I was able to install 4.4 onto my Surface Pro (1st gen).
The problem is, my WiFi is not working.  No networks are coming up.
WiFi works fine in 4.3 though.  Is it possible the driver used in 4.3 was not added to 4.4?

Oh sorry, nevermind.  I forgot that WiFi is NOT working in 4.3 and that's why I wanted to try 4.4, because I'd heard drivers had been added for multiple WiFi cards.  But, I guess it was not added for Surface Pro.  Dangit.  :(
Unfortunately, Android is useless on Surface Pro without some sort of wireless network connection.

I believe the WiFi NIC in the Surface Pro is a Marvell AVASTAR 350N Wireless Network Controller

I emailed Marvell customer support to ask if they could help us with a driver. You can email them too here:

Many wireless-N USB adapters run around $5-10 street price, new even..
They come in handy from time to time and have great support in the Linux kernel.
It can get you "up" while trying to source a driver.

Ubuntu 12.X already works great with the WiFi.
I just need to know if that Ubuntu driver can be ported to the Android 4.4 kernel and work?

Android-IA 4.2.2 has WiFi working in the Surface Pro now that I think of it. So someone who knows how to work with the Android kernel can borrow the drivers from that one and recompile it into Androidx86 4.4 for us?

I really wish they would intergrate the WiFi-Bluetooth driver from ubuntu into the Android-x86 builds, because the rerede 4.2.2 build is buggy, and I want to play android games, but bluestacks is too laggy...

Android-IA works just perfectly on Surface (EXCEPT WIFI TOO !!!)
I am also wondering how to fit the driver in either x86 or ia...

"Microsoft's putting a Marvell chip in that Surface is what I would expect for a
company that is doing everything they can to prevent people from running Linux.
Marvell has no presence in the Linux driver business, and getting a native Linux
driver for that chip is unlikely."

good luck....

We do have the driver for ubuntu. Though it's kind of buggy.
