check with hdmi-hdmi, hdmi-vga & RCA

config.txt mods:

  1. If previous builds worked on you tv but not on this build and if you see visual artifacts:
    change dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d,cma-256 to
    dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d,cma-256

  2.  change resolution using:
    framebuffer_width=1280
    framebuffer_height=720
    recommended resolutions: 1920×1080 1280×720 800×480 640×480

  3. config for RCA: remove all the line with hdmi in them.

Hi, thanks for working on adroid build for rpi, I tried the tv build with an rpi3 but have "critical" visual artifacts that make it unusable, I tried to change dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d,cma-256 as reported but noting change, I also tried resolution 1920x1080 (changing also hdmi group for 1080p) but I have still the same problem.
Raspbian and openelec on same rpi3 and same tv works correctly.
Can someone tell me what I can try to solve the problem or what informations/tests can be useful?

Thanks for any reply and sorry for my bad english.

On my XFCE it mounts 4 Partitions. The config.txt is in the root directory of the first one (/dev/sdb1 for me, check with lsblk). It's a 512MiB FAT32 partition with 11MiB used.

On my Panasonic Viera TV this build works great (except for the flickering and sometimes red borders, just like in your video). the CPU gets relatively hot, even with cooling block, but it runs stable. When setting the resolution to 1080p it gets rather unstable. apps like firefox and amazon prime video crash after few seconds.

I got amazon prime video to work with some tiny tweaks. I had to download the amazon underground apk on my phone and transfer it via usb. also setting the streaming quality to optimal gave very distorted video. second best option works. (ads still only stripes). the flickering disappears as long as the buttons are gone. the fps seem to be relatively low but for not too fast scenes its ok.

I didn't change the config.txt. I'm using game mode on the TV and disabled most other stuff. It's a TX-L37ETW5. It's connected directly hdmi to hdmi, no converter.

1- Download APK from APKMIRROR.
2- Using Android ADB:
adb connect RASPI_IP
(Example: adb connect 192.168.1.106)

then

adb install your_apk_file.apk

Hi, i had a similar issue last night. I managed to work it out by changing the "hdmi_mode" options in the config.txt. I found that after i googled what each one meant, i just went through the numbers... and it worked. (sorry, cannot find link i used).

Regards.

I would suggest trying

hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=16

Hello today I studied and researched a lot about the problem and saw some alternatives.
To change a system file you had to have root access.
Do you know any procedure to have this access in this system?
tks,

As far as I know you have root access when connecting through adb (at least if you run adb root before adb connect). Otherwise you could also mount the sd card on a linux computer where you have root/superuser rights.

Tks! Working!

On the resolution? I want to make a box tv but the picture quality is pretty poor if I compare it to the Kodi native installation.
Has anyone managed to make the images look pretty?
