Yes, my ADP1, intermittently reboots itself for no apparent reason.  I've found no pattern to when/why.  Generally when I notice (of course it's done it other times that I haven't noticed) I'm actually using it, I'm on the web, I just hung up the phone, I was trying to do something with the Navigation app.  It's done it when it's plugged in to the car charger, and not plugged in at all.  One time it was even in sleep mode sitting perfectly still on my nightstand.  I noticed because the screen suddenly lit up.  I thought I was getting a call, but I looked at it to see the glowing android icon.

Any ideas as to what could cause this?  It has done this both in 1.0 and 1.6.  It did it last night on the way home from work, but didn't do it this morning on the way in.  My current up time is 4:08:00, so it did it around 4:15 this morning while I was asleep.

It's the hardware problem, send the phone back. I've got the same issue.

Do you have a log? The kernel log is preserved across crashes, so
it'll still be on your phone if you grab a bugreport.

Check the log as JBQ said. If it crashes when the system is loading /
generating the .dex file, then the flash on the device is possibly
damaged and need to send back for hardware checking.

Or you can try a factory reset to see if it works.

Ok, How do I check the log file?

Attach your ADP1 with your system, and then make sure you have Android
SDK installed, then under the <sdk-root>/tools folder you can type the
following commend to generate the log after the crash happens:

adb bugreport > log.txt

Or you can start the DDMS tool in the SDK before your power on your
ADP1, attach the device to your system, then power on the device, and
then you should see some logging text showing up in the bottom panel
of DDMS.

For more information, check the SDK document:

Ted

And now it's completely dead. When it's plugged in to a USB charger
or computer cable I have a red LED on, but with just the battery
nothing. No Android, no reboot, completely dead.

Something similar happened to my ADP1 twice. I was scared at first,
anyway I connected the phone to computer via USB cable and after about
half a day I could turn it on. I have a theory that this behavior was
caused by some total battery discharge. Normally the phone should turn
off automatically if the battery level is low. Maybe something hanged
during shutdown and caused further battery drain?

I also experience random reboots since update to 1.6. I have not
performed "reset to factory settings" yet thought.

No, the battery was not indicating that it was low.  I was getting the random reboots before upgrading to 1.6 as well.  Anyway, I've sent the phone back to Brightstar.

Hey mate,

I'm having the same problem as well 6mths ago, and left the phone
aside.

Btw Jim G, is your ADP1 still under warranty? Or is this a hardware
defect such that anyone experiencing the same problems can send their
sets in to get it fixed?

Thanks.

Sincerely,
Nicholas

Hi, I have the same problem like yours. ADP 1 really had bad QC, got
an defect phone that can not be charge and power on out of the box and
now the phone got reboot by itself. I have sent it back once on my
own expense and now the second time. Wonder there is other solution
than sending the phone back.

I'm not sure how long the warranty runs, but mine was almost certainly
covered by that. It happened within a few weeks of me ordering the phone.
