My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I hope and pray that this message finds you in good health and spirit.
Today's topic is about "Judging Others". We judge others about the way others think, speak and act. We are so used to this, that it has become a second nature to us, just like breathing, walking or talking, and we are totally unaware that such a habit exists in us.
Jesus said in Mat:ch7v1 "Judge not, that ye be not judged". There is no 'ifs' & 'buts' included in this verse, so as to present before us any criteria's as to when and where this rule can be or cannot be practiced. So it plainly means, there is no exemption from practicing this commandment.Today I will share with you 2 examples from the NT, which tells us that not only is it wrong to judge others, but we are unworthy to judge anyone.
Let us turn to John:ch8v3-11. There, we read about an adulterous woman who was caught by the scribes and Pharisees and brought to Jesus, to see what manner of judgment, Jesus would impose on her. According to the law of Moses, an adulterous woman was to be stoned to death. In v6, we read that Jesus stooped down and wrote with his finger on the ground, as if he didn't hear what the scribes and Pharisees have just said. When the scribes and Pharisees insisted, Jesus said unto them "v7- He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her". The moment the scribes and Pharisees heard this statement, they were convicted in their conscience, and they all left. The scribes and Pharisees knew deep in their hearts, that they were guilty of so many sins, and it couldn't be hidden from Jesus. So they had no option, but to leave. But this is where we have an advantage, don't we. When we judge others or speak about someone in a condemning way, the listener has no idea about your secret sins. To him, you may be the righteous person who has ever lived on the earth, therefore he feels you are justified in saying such things. But remember my friend, you can fool a man, a crowd or the whole world, but not GOD. God knows, hears and sees everything. The Bible says, nothing is hidden from HIM. If only we are mind of this fact, how righteous our secret lives would be!
Recently, I came across an article that appeared in a website, where it was written that the recent natural calamity was the wrath of God, as it has particularly struck a certain area, where bad people or sinners lived.
This reminds me of a passage in the NT (Luke ch13v2-5), where we read about some people who told Jesus, about two incidents. In the first incident, we see that some Galileans were killed in the temple by King Pilate, and in the second instance we read that a tower fell upon eighteen people and killed them. The first is a man made disaster, and the second can in a way be defined as a natural disaster. I guess the people who shared the news with Jesus that day, was taking pride in the thought that God has kept them alive, because they were much better than the people who have died. Let us hear what Jesus had to say.
"Suppose ye that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans, because they suffered such things?"
"Think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?"
Jesus further said "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish".
What does both these examples teach us? It teaches us that in the eyes of God, all of us are sinners. Romans ch3v10 says "There is none righteous, no not one". Being sinners, we have no right to judge or condemn others.Let us therefore be careful so that we don't fall into the habit of judging others. Because Jesus said "out of thine own mouth will I judge thee", "for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged".
May the grace of God, administer this message to our hearts, and give us the strength to implement what we have just learned.
God Bless you
