Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
May the peace of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ reign in your hearts today.
Sometimes we tend to get so busy, that we have no time to thank God for the blessings we receive.
It was the other day, that the place where I stay experienced a power shut down. Luckily it lasted only for a few minutes, and those few minutes helped me realize how much I was dependent on Electricity. Though it is always there, we rarely notice its presence. Just like the air we breathe, it is there all the time, and it is what sustains us, but we hardly notice it.
In the same way, if we look carefully at our life, we will see the grace of God seamlessly interwoven in every area of our life. Some of the few things which I can readily think of is our Health, Food, Shelter, Clothes, Family, Security and so on.
Just take a look around you or read the newspapers and you will hear about people who are inflicted with terrible diseases, people who have no food to eat, people who are orphans with no family to support them, people who live on the streets bearing the cold or heat of the day.
Let me ask you one thing? How do you start your prayer? How much of your prayer time do you set aside for thanking the Lord?
David says "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name – Psalms ch100v4"
I am sure none of us will like a person, who continuously asks for favors, and never thanks you in return. What is your opinion about such a person and what will be your reaction when he approaches you the next time, asking for some more favors?
I am reminded of the story which happened in the time of Jesus. There were 10 lepers, who received healing from Jesus. The Bible says they were very earnest in their supplication. They lifted up their voices and said "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us". And Jesus, healed them and according to the traditional customs, they were required to show themselves to the priest, so that the priest can declared them clean and allow them to return to society, to lead a normal life.
We read one of the leper when he realized that he was healed "turned back and with a loud voice glorified God. And fell down on his face at Jesus feet, giving thanks".
Jesus asks this man "were there not ten cleansed, where are the remaining 9?". And Jesus further says to this man "Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made the whole".
I guess this leper was healed from the inside out. His heart was also healed that day, and there he was glorifying God for the grace received. (he was made whole).
I am sure each one of us, no matter in what situation we are right now, will find lots of things to thank God for.
Let us therefore join our hearts in prayer and thank God for the wonderful mercies we receive from HIM every day.
God bless you,
