No love soothes,
no smile gladdens,
no voice cheers,
no arm supports
—like His.

Jesus is the . . .
  all powerful,
  all helpful,
  all loving,
  all tender,
  ever present
Friend and Companion of
your homeward path to God.

"O Jesus! You have ever been—you are
—and you shall ever be—my Friend.

In adversity—I will hide beneath Your sheltering wing.

In sorrow—I will nestle within Your loving bosom.

In weakness—I will entwine around Your upholding arm.

In need—I will run to Your boundless resources.

In sickness, in languor, in suffering—I will enfold around me Your all divine, all pervading, all soothing sympathy!"
