Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Loving greetings,
I hope this message finds you well and enjoying a close relationship with our Lord. The Bible says HE is a zealous God. A God, who longs for our fellowship!
Now for an interesting story…
Confucius the Chinese philosopher was traveling through a desert with his disciples. They were tired and thirsty. One of the disciples came across a small puddle of water hidden among in the rocks. Immediately he scooped some with his rice bowl and offered the water to his Master. Confucius took the rice bowl and poured the water onto the ground saying, "It would be too little for all and too much for one. Let us continue on our walk". As a leader, Confucius could not drink the water and allow his disciples to suffer. Neither could he pass the water around, as there was not enough for all. Therefore he felt it better to treat everyone as equal. No wonder, Confucius was considered as a wise man and a good leader.
This reminds of me a similar incident in the Bible, but with an entirely different outcome. Once Jesus was teaching a large crowd, who followed him to a deserted place (somewhere with no ready access to market). We read in Mark ch6v35, the disciples telling Jesus, to disperse the crowd, so that the crowd can go to the villages and buy bread to eat. Then Jesus says (v37), give ye them to eat. This the Bible says, Jesus said to test the faith of HIS disciples John ch6v6). Then we read about how one of the disciple found out that a young boy in the crowd had 5 loaves of bread and 2 small fishes.
Jesus then asks them to bring the food to him, he then tells the disciples to seat the crowd in a certain order. After that, Jesus gave thanks to God, and then distributed the bread to his disciples, who then distributed it to the people. I guess the miracle instantaneously took place in the hands of Jesus. I can easily picture a scene where the small loaf of bread, doubled or tripled in size, every time Jesus broke a piece from it. And the fish, they also should have increased in the same manner. After they have served the whole crowd, the Bible says the disciples gathered 12 baskets of bread loaves. It is quite possible there would have been enough fish also left, but maybe they didn't gather, as it could have easily get spoiled.
The total number of people fed through this miracle is not recorded in the Bible. The Bible gives an approximate number of men, who were fed and the number is 5000 men. I am sure at least half the amount of women would have been present that day, and not to mention the number of children, who would have accompanied the women (In olden days, the family was very large).
What does this lesson teach us? It teaches us that Jesus is sufficient to provide for all our needs (both Physical and Spiritual). All we need to do is just trust in HIM.
Jesus said "Behold the fowls of the air, for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? – Matthew ch6v26".
"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? - Matthew ch6 v31
"But seek ye first the Kingdom of God , and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you" – Matthew ch6 v33.
God Bless you,
