I'm optimistic, but what exactly are you evaluating?
What will we learn from these models?

Also why doesn't the peak beam on the gable go all the way back to the
house?

The presentation from Parametric looks very good.

Vern:

These are the questions which occur to me:

1) under what set of loads will the structures be evaluated, i.e. current code vs updated code Dec 8th?
2) what load cases will be used and how will the pressures be applied?
3) what are the joint fixivities?

Tom & David,

PSI is going to run the models under the load conditions delineated in
December 8th code for 140B exposure. The PSI evaluations will be done
via 3D FEA. We will then evaluate the same models and conditions
analytically (mistakenly refer to as 2D). The results will be compared
and we will attempt to arrive at a consensus for how we can reliably
use analytical modeling. Analytical modeling does not account for
deformation. So we need to establish a defensible methodology to use
it.

Tom, the ridge beam does connect to the structure. The beam connects to
the closest point and 1x2's continue around the house to the next
beam. Examine the top view on page 4.

David, PSI is endeavoring to accurately model the structural properties
for the joints. They are going to the extreme of physically testing
connections to measure deformation under load. The resulting data will
provide more accurate values for the connections then the
approximations generally used.

Very cool!
I look forward to the results.
It will be interesting to see how much information analytical
engineering will give.

Vern,

The roof bracing in Model 1 (mansard) is not the same as it was
disscussed in the meeting that I attended. Has this been changed?

Will I get any response to my question? Gus? Ferdi? Vern? are you there?

Group:

Please examine the attached file. It reflects the final revision and the
actual models to be evaluated by Parametric Solutions.

As always, I am requesting your impressions and comments.
