When you open a new connection in TeraTerm, select TCP/IP and Telnet, then enter the IP address of your ESP32 in the “Host:” field. Click “OK”.
After connecting, you may need to go to Setup->Terminal and enable local echo to see what you’re typing. I don’t know why. Putty and every other telnet client I have tried does not require this. TeraTerm must default to not be telling the telnet server to echo based on your local echo setting. My suggestion is to use Putty which behaves properly.
