Thought I would share( though it’s not an Altair).
Just received a Imsai Mini pictured sitting on top of my OEM Imsai (from same group that does the Altair Mini also pictured).

I haven’t had a chance to power  up yet as I’m currently busy with other things .    I’m told it will work within my Altair mini floppy and expansion unit.

Note I have no financial
ties to this group, I just thought it was cool

Below is the link .   I got great price as I did a preorder back in Nov 2025 ( before it was available) and it arrived today!

From AltairMini website,  “This emulator is based on Arduino Due and the open source project created by David Hansel.”

So It looks very similar to the AdWaterstir group except for size but I believed the expansion bus is same

Hi,

Yeah, they keep popping up on eBay anywhere between $200 to $300 assembled and tested.

I built an Altair-Duino Pro and traded for a second one, but they're not really as much of an Altair 8800 as the Altair 8800c or compatible systems like I've been building in Oak cabinets.

The worst part is the floppy drives ... using the Mike Douglas FDC+ is much easier and more realistic to using floppy disks.

Yes, I have seen the Altair mini's show up on ebay . but never an IMSAI Mini ..
Again this is a "simulator"  based on David Hansel work so it's NOT compatible with Mike D. FDC+ card as that is for a "real" S100 bus system.
But I agree when you are talking about S100 bus Mike's FDC+ card is "Da-bomb" !

Anyways .. I find these "simulators" when hooked to physical hardware (both Imsai/Altair-mini and AdWaterStir versions) are fun to play with and I have never had issues with my mini floppy drive.

Hi,

My point is that the hardware is very different than the real Altair 8800 or IMSAI 8080 computers and configuring the emulator computers is also very different.  That's why I stopped playing with my Altair-Duino Pro computers and now just play with the real S-100 hardware.

My aim is to learn the real hardware, not just watch blinking LEDs on an emulator.
