Greetings
So been playing with Gotek which has FlashFloppy installed and I have been trying to hook up to my Altair S-100 setup via a FDC+.

I have loaded onto USB a CPM .dsk file which boot this system without issue from a Teac 55-GFR floppy,  Linux serial server and ESP32 Serial server.

Has anyone tried a Gotek with a FDC+ and had any luck ?

Hopefully someone else with more recent Gotek experience will chime in.

I have not used a Gotek in a while, but I recall the Gotek doesn’t properly emulate hard sector media. It needs to be able to extract the Altair track/sector data stored in the DSK image and also generate the proper index pulses. It’s possible it supports it now, but I don’t think it did before.

I ended up putting my Gotek in a Morrow system with soft sector media.

Hi,

Another thing to understand is that there are different versions of the GoTek drives.  The one I have is not recommended for use with an Altair or IMSAI etc.  seems the newer versions have some of the problems fixed.

This is why I was hesitant even to try the ESP32 FDC+ at first ... but after another friend got his going, he sent me one to convince me to give it a try.  Now I have five of the ESP32 FDC+ and I don't see any reason to fuss with floppies, GoTeks, CF Cards, etc.
