Hi,

I was thinking about a breakout board for connecting the front panel to the backplane bus.

What about a matching numbers from left to right breakout board?

Looking at my front panel:
GND +8V 27 28 26 69 47 32 46 86 44 85 33 48 87 98 37 97 34 96 43 93 92 91 42 41 94 95 84 83 82 29 30 31 81 80 79

First question is, did I get all the wires in that list?

IF so, is there any reason not to have a breakout board with matching layout of connections?

I think this would make it much easier for people to restore the Altair 8800 wiring ... basically, no thinking involved ... just wire one to one and be done in a flash.

IF this can be done on a 2-layer breakout board, they'd be very affordable ... and we could make the Gerber files available.

Hi,

I'm wondering ... should I pull up all the edge contacts so the board might also be used for test points?  Maybe have the wire solders near the top, but important test point closer to the top?

Then I need a list of important test points to consider.

Hi,

I think I got it about 90% of the way in EasyEDA!  Now I need to learn how to have a AutoRouter add vias and complete the board.
