MassDOTNews April 17, 2026 MBTA Announces May Service Changes Service changes will take place on the Red, Green, Blue, Mattapan, New Bedford/Fall River, Greenbush, Kingston, and Framingham/Worcester lines. Projects will include signal work, Green Line Train Protection System installation, essential infrastructure revitalization, Codman Yard improvements, and more. MBTA May Service Changes       MassDOT Completes Accelerated Replacement of Town Hill Road Bridge in Middlefield The bridge was closed to traffic in August 2025, following an inspection and subsequent load rating analysis. Town Hill Road Bridge     Green Line B Branch Will Be Suspended Between Kenmore and Boston College April 22 – 30 The MBTA will perform work on critical projects on the B branch during this nine-day service outage, including infrastructure improvements, the continued installation of Green Line Train Protection System infrastructure, the replacement of the 130-year-old wooden overhead catenary wire "trough" near the Green Line portals, and necessary maintenance work. Green Line B Branch     MBTA Seeking Feedback on Focus 2050 Focus 2050 is the latest update to the Program for Mass Transportation (PMT), a plan required by state law, which will set the long-term direction for a safer, more reliable, more accessible MBTA through the year 2050. MBTA Focus 2050 Feedback     Beware of Fraudulent Text Messages MassDOT is reminding residents to beware of fraudulent text messages which ask for payment for tolls or violations by using a link sent to a person’s cell phone.
