For those who may not have heard, Santana’s CAPE (Community, Action, Policy & Engagement) is my initiative built on the principle that collaboration is key. It is a platform designed to bring together a diverse coalition of neighbors, nonprofits, and advocates to collaboratively shape effective, sustainable policy solutions.
Our office firmly believes that meaningful progress is impossible without active community involvement. The Santana’s CAPE community is the direct extension of that belief—empowering residents to tell us what Boston needs.
Since launching Santana’s CAPE in March, we have hit the ground running. Over the past nine months, we’ve convened for three in-person summits and nine virtual working sessions, putting our belief in collaboration to the test.
Together, we turned community feedback into legislative action across our five core pillars:
Youth Development, Empowerment & Education
Housing Affordability & Access
LGBTQIA+ Rights, Advocacy & Visibility
Public & Community Safety: Holistic Solutions
Immigrant Stability & Services
Thanks to the commitment of Santana’s CAPE members, our sessions evolved from open discussions into blueprints for real legislation.
We successfully filed hearing orders to advocate for affordable housing solutions—specifically legalizing triple deckers, ADUs, and SROs—while gathering the vital feedback needed to shape our long-term policy agenda.
