The Allston Construction Mitigation Subcommittee met on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Notes are below.

Chaired by Harvard Allston Task Force (HATF) member Ed Kotomori, this subcommittee invites developer construction mitigation and community relations staff, Boston Police Department District 14, local and state elected officials and their representatives, and local North Allston neighbors, to discuss construction and safety issues in the neighborhood. All are welcome to attend and contribute.

Tremont St attempted B&E: suspect grabbed a milk crate from the yard
1 car break Bayard St; doors were unlocked; 4 others in Brighton, all unlocked
Robbery of person on Bluebike (took bike)
Allston St attempted robbery of backpack
Comm Ave market attempted robbery and assault of store owner
Packages: 7 stolen (CVS is getting hit)
7 bikes, 2 scooters stolen: put a tracking device on it
Gyms: people leaving lockers open, stuff inside gets stolen

Western Ave in good condition, striped and painted
South Campus Drive residential building occupancy August 1st; paving late July
ART ongoing interior work, finishing up exterior; paving will happen later; construction lot will be emptying out
Track renovation is ongoing
Ribbon cutting at ERC: big milestones have been completed
Solar panels will be installed at ERC, so there will still be some cranes
Still some work on the Greenway; there will be an opening celebration
Bond Brothers connecting with Almay is ongoing
Some 6:30am wrong-way-down-Windom-St drivers
Neighbors would like to see a speed table at Windom and Hopedale

Electric company: smart meters being installed, supposed to work with smart appliances to balance the load to prevent brown-outs; electrical reliability is the goal; but only works in this way with ; Time of Day metering: if you are out of the house all day long, it's a viable thing, and if you choose to do laundry/charge your car at night, you can save money. Eversource may offer senior discounts.

Coming soon: construction on 169-177 Cambridge St between Windom and Sorrento; developer DND Homes will soon file a proposal for a six-story building with 143 apartments in Brighton Center on Dighton Street. They also currently have a project for a six-story mixed-use building with 145 apartments and no parking at 201-207 Brighton Ave that is going through the community process. Joe Hanley will be the permitting and zoning attorney for the development team (DND Homes).
