A strong bill to defend the people and the values of the Commonwealth.

On Thursday, the state senate passed the PROTECT Act. on a near unanimous bipartisan vote of 37 to 3.  It is a very strong bill protecting civil rights and limiting ICE overreach.  The amendments that we adopted during the floor debate mostly expanded safe space protections. We rejected several weakening amendments on roll call votes. The bill moves on to a conference negotiation with the House.
