Mayor Michelle Wu Joins Community to Celebrate Reopening of Mattahunt Woods Urban Wild in Mattapan

Mayor Michelle Wu on Friday, October 24th joined community members to announce the reopening of the Mattahunt Woods Urban Wild in Mattapan following a three-year restoration effort led by the Environment Department and the Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with local residents. The urban wild is now open and accessible to all, with new entrances, multi-lingual signage, bike racks, benches and an accessible trail network.
 
Mayor Michelle Wu and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department announced Weston & Sampson as the technical lead and Stoss Landscape Urbanism as the design lead for the next phase of improvements at Moakley Park.

Murphy Playground Ballfield Reopens

Construction is complete at Murphy playground and reopened Monday, November 3, 2025. Check out the project page to learn more.
Join Mayor Michelle Wu and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department for the 2025 Mayor's Cup Soccer Tournament and Festival, returning to Moakley Park in South Boston on Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 9, 2025. Registration has closed but families, friends, and community members are encouraged to come cheer on the athletes.

Ceylon Park Improvement Project Receives $1 Million Land And Water Conservation Fund Grant

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce that Dorchester’s Ceylon Park has been awarded $1 million from the latest round of federally funded Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grants announced by the Healey-Driscoll Administration.
