Subject: 50th Gardeners Gathering Free Conference Invitation

The Trustees Boston Community Gardens Team invites you to join us for the 50th Anniversary of the Gardeners Gathering conference. This year it will be on Saturday, March 21st 2026 from 10am to 5pm at Northeastern University’s Curry Center.

The Gathering is a free conference that brings Eastern Massachusetts growers of all kinds together for a day full of informative workshops, engaging exhibitors, networking, and inspiration. This year the conference will be opened by

  • Mayor of Boston Michelle Wu, presenting the much-anticipated garden awards!

    The Trustees CEO Katie Theoharides

John Tobin VP of City & Community Engagement at Northeastern University

A keynote speech by Kim Janey, Boston’s first black and female mayor, and President of Economic Mobility Pathways (EMPath)

A debut screening of "50 Years in the Garden" a short film showcasing a collection of interviews of garden elders and visionaries. Hear stories from the gardens across the last 50 years and visions of how Boston's community gardens can thrive for the next 50!

A History of Urban Gardening

The first Gathering took place in 1976 at city hall, attended by community gardeners and organizers who were advocating to local government to protect green space for urban agriculture. Now the conference is attended by a diverse cross section of 500+ community members involved in agriculture, gardening, land stewardship, and community organizing in the Greater Boston/Eastern Massachusetts area.

We hope you join us in this celebration of spring, community, and learning
