Peaceful Friends,

The Alaska Peace Center, North Star Veterans For Peace Chapter 146, and Fairbanks Peace Choir invite you to a celebration of Armistice Day (DRESS WARMLY!). We are gathering at 10:45am  on Tuesday, November 11 at Veterans Memorial Park, 700 Cushman Street. Bring a bell if you have one. Extra bells will be available if you don’t have one to bring. Bell-ringing will begin promptly at 11:00 so allow plenty of time to get there. The Peace Choir will also lead us in some songs. Veterans Memorial Park is undergoing a major reconstruction, but the Veterans Monument area at the east (Cushman Street) end of the park has not been affected and is still accessible.

In 1918 World War I, “the war to end all wars”, ended with the ringing of bells at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, celebrating Peace! A tradition of observing the anniversary of the Armistice by ringing bells to honor veterans and promote peace spread throughout the world. Come help us continue this tradition as we re-dedicate ourselves to working toward peace. The original spirit of Armistice Day celebrates peace and turns away from militarism and state-sponsored violence.

Bring your prayers for Peace, bring your vision of Peace and well-being for all. Let us step up in Peace, to peaceably communicate our hopes and fears. And Ring and Sing for Peace! Peace is the Way.
