Hi All,

I'm asking for a volunteer to give a presentation two weeks from
Thursday - on October 2nd (Oktoberfest!).

We have a schedule conflict for the speaker planned for October 2nd.
Normally I'd fill-in but I have some personal issues making potholes
in my schedule this month too.

I'd personally like to see some basic show-n-tell type presentations.
So if you've been playing around with the Enlightenment desktop or
Debian Lenny or any other package/distro (even BSD!). or if you
are busy learning python or ruby - this would be a really good time
to step forward and share your experience with others.

Please contact me if you can present in October.

--

We're always looking for future presentations, so even if October is
not possible I'd like to hear from potential presenters.

I don't have anything terribly interesting (read cool/geeky) but I
have given presentations before on how to train new users on how to
use Linux. I'd be more than willing to give my presentation. If no
one is interested, I'm totally cool with it, because it's not the most
interesting (geeky) subject.

I would be an interested visitor. Count me in as an attendee.

Actually Pat we need more non-geeky presentations. Even basic
show-n-tells about what packages ppl are trying. It's sometimes very
useful just to see how other ppl are using they systems.

So barring any changes, I'd be very pleased if you would present in
two weeks (October 2).

I'll contact you by direct email.

If you want that basic, maybe I can show my new Dell Mini 9 with Ubuntu
when it comes in November. If anyone is interested.

I'm interested ! Maybe someone else has another flavor of UMPC (Asus
EEE, OLPC, Acer Inspire One) for comparison, or some other Linux based
hardware for a basic show-and-tell. I've never seem more than pictures
of any of these.

Anyone else have some interesting Linux related hardware to show off ?

I just bought an Eee PC. I can talk on that if anyone is interested.
Not yet being a "Linux Guy" I won't be able to address its
implementation on the Eee, but I can talk about my first impressions of
the Eee and practical Linux.

I am typing this email on the Eee in a remote corner of the condominium
and will send it over wireless on a neighbor's unsecured network.

That would be great - Maybe November - did you get the 700 or 900 series
EEE ?

900. At my age I need a "large" screen -- like 9" is large!?!

I purchased a 700 Eee PC when they first came out, and still have it, I would be willing to through some conversation in on this topic. Nice computer by the way, keyboard is a little smaller then I had hoped. Sounds like a good topic though, I have been meaning to catch a meeting.

could do the whole dell linux product line :-)

I'll make it official and set the November (Nov 6th) meeting is "show and
tell" for UMPCs and new/interesting Linux portables. Actually any Linux
oriented HW that you think others would be interested in seeing.

I think we have a Dell Mini9, Auas Eee700, Asus Eee 900 and a Dell
"dellbuntu?" laptop. ((If someone has a OLPC or an Acer AspireOne that
would round out the list)).

No slides needed - just be prepared to talk for several minutes and answer
questions minutes and show-off the systems.
