That was so well stated. I truly believe the 'flipped' classroom is a great method, however, to me it has always been an eclectic method, which uses whatever it takes to activate and motivate the students to do the work. A flipped classroom teaches students to be independent learners taking responsibility for their own learning. It has to do with the group of students, and then the individual students, in order to achieve mastery. Each year may look remarkably different. It does not outlaw any or all other methods, but rather packs them all into a tool chest to be drawn upon as needed. A student needs to feel free to say, I need thus and thus in order to understand. When he knows what is needed for his/her learning, teaching is a joy beyond compare. As a teacher, we need to know that all knowledge and all understanding comes from God, so we can direct the frustrated student to know where to go for insight, understanding, abilities and success. He is a great and awesome God we serve, and He is our teacher.
