Dear friends,

For those of you who work with Spanish-speaking kids -- or who know others who do -- my most popular picture book of all time, "The Baker's Dozen," is now available in Spanish too. "La docena del panadero: Un cuento de San Nicolás" is already out as an ebook, while the paperback and hardcover can be preordered for their November 1 publication. The translation even features the original recipe and pattern for Saint Nicholas cookies, suitable for making with either a cookie cutter or a traditional cookie mold. Info and a video on the translation are here:

That page includes a link to a free downloadable PDF as an advance reading copy for your evaluation. (For info on the original English edition, just scroll UP from there.)

The translation was done by Annette Granat, a Panamanian who has lived in Spain as well as other Spanish-speaking countries, and who has done extensive work translating materials for state education agencies in Texas -- so you're sure to find the book suitable for classroom and library. And of course, all of Wendy Edelson's gorgeous watercolor paintings are there.

An earlier Spanish translation of the story was featured in a script in my Reader's Theater Editions series. In case you missed it, find it here:
