As the mass media has been well-developed and the accelerated spread
of information no matter how trivial it is, privacy of people,
especially of those public figures, can be easily deprived. The
existence of the mass media satisfies the acquisitiveness of the
public. It’s conceivable that the people’s enormous curiosity results
from the adoration to idols. But the price to be famous is deprived
privacy. In the views of them, it’s the most annoying thing; In the
views of the public, it’s the only way to see the truthful personality
of the public figures.

Most of the public figures hate that every tiny movements are
being watched; they lose some degree of freedom. They have to wear
masks and sunglasses while shopping in a hot cloudy day; they can’t be
too close to whom they love; they can’t wear nothing even in their
private swimming pools. Children may be the most innocent victims
under their parents’ fame; Just like Aiko, the daughter of Japan’s
crown prince couples, has suffered the school bullying and been afraid
of going to school since then. Moreover, some of actors have been
responsible for negligible behavior and individual habits that so many
people have, just because they have done what the public don’t want
them to do. A smoking actress may be rejected by a director who wants
her to play a naïve role. Anything that is quotidian enough could make
those public figures cross the line we give them.

However, being deprived of privacy is not totally a bad thing;
instead, it makes some contributions to the society. Because privacy
is the only excuse that lawbreakers can take. News such as politic
bribery or scandals happens frequently. Some of them go for
prostitution, some of them are venal. Those politicians who disappoint
the voters and people who uphold them wear masks called rectitude, and
the truth must be discovered in order to prevent other voters giving
them chances to corrode the country. Some famous athletes take
prohibited drugs like anabolic steroid to enhance physical strength,
but lose the honor and the respect from people in the end. Thanks to
the mass media for tearing their hypocritical masks, so that the
public won’t be deceived.

In sum, the mass media eventually plays a very crucial role
between the public and those public figures. Although public should
give the public figures like actors, politicians and athletes more
personal space, they have to comply with the morality and laws without
monitory by media, by people.
