Please look at the summary below about our website design and development team by Sunita Garg.  She has been a great inspirator and team player  in developing this website so quickly and with minimum cost.  

We will demo it again today in our meeting.  Thus please join and help lead the new direction for our group.

Hello Friends,

We had a good meeting today. Harbansji gave a tour of the website as it is open to all and also the website look and feel if you sign in as a member. Website is functional and we would like people to sign in and give us your feedback.

Please note if you have already paid for the development sign in as an Honorary member that way yo do not have to pay again - free 1 year membership is being given to this group.
The other two categories are Sustaining member -sign-in for a fee, and Associate member with general viewing rights. Goal is to have the group test the website for a month and if all works - we go live on October 1st, 2020.


Your comments/questions/concerns are most welcome. This website is a fruit of the  collaboration efforts of all in the group.  Thank you all for your time and ideas.

Today we had Anup from Club express present what their company has to offer. He presented a sample website that would satisfy the requirements of our group. The four main features that he discussed were - Member, Event, Donation and Communication Management.  Tape of his presentation is attached for your viewing and for further details. Vani Bindal who is a HS student has agreed to volunteer and put together the site, with the help of her uncle Ajay and Harbansji. 

 

Today we also finalized on the domain name, which will be: ASIO.net - Association of Indian Origin. Thank you all for your input in helping us select the name. This week Harbansji will register this name. This domain name will be registered under Oregon Venture Advancement, Inc., which is non-profit organization registered as 501(c)(3) registration # 62542098 (registered by Mr. Mahendra Shah)

 

Our Agenda for next week would be, reviewing the website presentation by Harbansji and further discussing (and maybe finalizing) the initial content of the website.

SIO.org - Seniors of Indian Origin

SIO-OR.org - Seniors of Indian Origin-Oregon

CIGY.org - Community of Indians in Golden years

AIS-OR.org - Association of Indian Seniors-Oregon

ABS-OR.org - Association of Bhartiya Seniors-Oregon

 

Please vote for your choice and send it to Harbansji, and Dr. Kantibhai. They will compile the results, and based on the popular demand will select the Domain name.

 

Mission statement was discussed and the following was finalized:



The purpose of this group is to build a thriving, strong and supportive community by staying engaged, connected and informed.





Building of the website: Two companies were looked at - Club Express and Mighty Networks by Harbansji, and Uma Arya, and John P looked at Club express only. They all found Club Express to be more suited for this group. Harbansji also added that they were more responsive. Club express has two options, one where they setup the website for $1,000.00 and the other option is that we build our own website with their available plug-ins (initial cost may be less depending on how many plug-ins are used) and once the website is running, there will be a regular monthly charge of $25.00. If you know of any one who could help us with this task, then do let us know.

 

 Harbansji will try to get a demo presentation for our next meeting. Please visit their website at  http://www.clubexpress.com/ during the week to see if you have any questions for their sales team.

Topics covered today:

1.  Harbansji went over the slides for the proposed website. Attached for your reference. 2.  Rajiv suggested that there should be an executive committee and a charter with bylaws, guidelines on what can go on the website and some assigned people filtering and reviewing the data posted on the website.

3.  Mahendraji suggested that the group would act as an advisory Board to OVA.

4.  Banita suggested the importance of agenda for the meeting and the importance of generic name for the website domain - to make it more welcoming to all ages of Indian origin.

 

To do list for the group which would also be our agenda for the next meeting.

1.   Think of a name for the website domain.

2.  Think of a mission statement for the website.

3.  Review the following website platforms and give your opinion:
