2012 ASA Panel Seeks Fourth Panelist for Panel on Liberalism and U.S.
Militarism

Broadly, the panel will consider the relationship between U.S. foreign
policy/militarism and the ideologies of liberal democracy. In
particular, the panel will look at both historical and current U.S.
military interventions/engagements for the ways in which such
interventions are dependent upon and reproductive of American
liberalism. We think this panel will be an ideal panel for ASA in
Puerto Rico for it will help aid a larger discussion of the
relationship between U.S. empire, militarism, and the continually
negotiated performance of liberal democracy.

The panel will consist of:

Chair/Commentator: Meredith Lair, George Mason University

Simeon Man, Yale University

Liz Mesok, New York University

Jenny Kelly, University of Texas at Austin

If you are interested in presenting a paper on this panel please email
elizabe...@nyu.edu ASAP with a 200 word abstract of your proposed
paper.
