Can anyone help with the following query recently received by the
careers officers.

"I am writing a book in which the main character is an British
archivist in the 1930's. I was wondering if you would be kind enough
to provide me with a few details that might help me make the story
more realistic. I would like to know what kinds of people are usually
attracted to jobs as archivists, what kind of training or education is
required in order to become an archivist and what kinds of skills such
a person might possess. In addition, if you know anything about
archiving in the 1930's that would be
extremely helpful."
