Dear Community Partners,
The TRUST Act bill (AB 1081-Ammiano), which addresses problems with Secure Communities in California, is scheduled to be heard tomorrow, Wednesday, May 18th at 9AM in Sacramento by the Assembly Appropriations Committee. We need your help with lobbying Assemblymembers Solorio and Calderon to ensure that we can get their “yes” vote on the TRUST Act. Please take a few minutes today to call their office to ask for their support.
Attached is an update version of the factsheet for the TRUST Act. And here’s a simple script for the phone calls:
“Hi. My name is ___ and I’m calling on behalf of [org]. I’m calling to ask for your support of the TRUST Act (AB 1081). This bill will be heard by the appropriations committee tomorrow, Wednesday, May 18th. I support the TRUST Act because it furthers public safety and community policing. Can we count on your support? Thank you.”
