EDUCATION FOR DOG OWNERS

Hi Everyone,

 

As part of an ongoing education program offered at Paws Abilities.

 

We have decided to present a series of half day workshops on basic dog behaviour and positive reinforcement training.

 

After some thought, I feel that this is just another little thing that we can do, as a pro-active step with regards to education. Covering the basics of dog communication and behaviour, and problem solving of both behaviour and training problems.

 

Dogs with educated owners do not end up at shelters or beheaded by their owners with a chain saw!

 

Please could you pass the flyer on to anyone in the Gauteng area, who might be interested - or indeed persuaded to attend.

 

We are trying to get a good turnout and if we manage to cover our costs - we will hopefully be able to donate a reasonable sum to a worthy charity or shelter.

 

In order to keep the cost in reach of most people, we are only charging R100 (per person) per session. The price includes afternoon refreshments and a bound, printed copy (detailed book) of the subject matter, so that after each afternoons lectures and discussions, delegates can peruse the information at home, in their own time.

 

The of our costs are the printing of the books.

 

Each workshop will end, with an open Q and A session where people will have an opportunity to obtain solutions for some of the problems that they might be experiencing.

 

If just ONE dog is prevented from ending up at a shelter; if just ONE dog is prevented from being treated harshly due to ignorance; if just ONE person reaches a comprehension of the values of positive reinforcing training - then I feel we will have achieved our aim.

 

The only way to change people's attitudes is through education and staying in the public's face.

This might be one small way to help.
