Dear Friends,

It is my sad duty to inform you that Terence Mullarkey passed away on the 2nd of March this year.

At 95 years of age he was the oldest member in our society.    Terence attended Wynberg-Allen during the latter half of the 1920s and early 1930s.   He left school after completing his Junior Cambridge exams.   Shortly after, he returned with his family to England.

Both Terence and his lovely wife, Elizabeth, had the highest qualifications in the nursing and care professions, and put this knowledge to good use by owning and successfully running a large Residential Care Home in Nottingham.

Terence joined our society in 1997 and attended the Windsor reunion that year.  He told me later that at 77 years of age the journey from Nottingham and back, by public transport, was too tiring for him, and regrettably, he would not be able to join us at Windsor thereafter.

However, Terence turned out to be one of our most enthusiastic members.  About a week after each newsletter, I always received a letter from him thanking me for my efforts, and saying how much he enjoyed his memories being taken back to Wynberg-Allen, Mussoorie and India.   Over the last few years I knew from his deteriorating hand writing that age had caught up with him.

     May he rest in peace.

Your sincerely,

Derek Hargrave

(former secretary of the Wynberg-Allen Society)

Its "Wynberg Allen" that never dies and will continue to do what its founded intended it to do...she will be alive long after we too are gone still inculcating the same values that bind us together.

Derek, Thanks for letting us know. It is always sad to hear of one of our own alumni passing. Of course we are reaching that age ourselves.  Our hearts go out to him and his family.
On another note Mr. Kidd, Principal from 1957 thru 1963, will be attending the Can-Am 8th Reunion from April 19 thru 23 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mr. Kidd really wanted to come and meet some of his old students, so I arranged this Reunion. We hope to have a good turnout, including 93 year old Rev.  Warren who is travelling from the east coast and was the Pastor of the Union Church in the 60's.
Back to Mr. Kidd he left Wynberg Allen after a tragic accident, when the school van went down the hill near Wynberg. After receiving initial treatment he medivac'd back to Australia, where he eventually recovered. I have been in touch with him for the last year and he is chipper and feeling very good.
So we are lookingforward to seeing him. More later.
Our love to all.
