Dear Classmates,

I mentioned that I was going to try some of the other possibilities for creating picture galleries etc. Well after John Leonard joined our group, I emailed him to catch up a little and he mentioned that he had a page on facebook. That made me decide to try it and so... I have added new photos there.

Check it out if you'd like
http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8196&id=752667088&ref=share

It seems to be fairly easy to use. I have not tried MySpace or Yahoo so I can't compare them. I have tried Orkut and I like Facebook better already (after about two hours).

Please let me know if you have any thoughts.

I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving!

It looks like you probably have to join Facebook to view my
pictures.
Sorry, that was not my intention.

I'll have to go keep looking for the perfect solution.

It also looks like most of the pictures are of me :) I'm REALLY sorry
about that. You might still be able to find something there that will
bring back a memory or two.

Later...

Facebook actually is not a bad option. My kids have been on MySpace
and I don't find some of the pictures very appropriate. But, to each
his own. There was an article in the paper saying that for those who
don't want the suggestive pictures, etc. Facebook was a more
conservative option. So far I've liked what I've seen. Just my
opinion -- hope it helps.

Sorry . . . tried it and it's just too much work. I could not find
anyone on it and I don't find it user friendly. Nice try though.

I belong to several Yahoo Groups, including BackCountry Horsemen of Nevada.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BackCountryHorsemenNevada/

The first link is the main page, the second is the photo albums that have been added to it by members and the third is a file I uploaded of an article of interest to the group.  It's easy to work for users.  They also have:

I have never set one up, but I belong to three FreeCycle Groups and they have got to be easy, as they are all over the country.  You might have to join to see the links above--I don't know.

Deby,

Thanks for the info. I checked the links out and you have to register
to view all but the first link.
It is not a big deal to register, so I did. I searched groups for
"Alta Loma High School" and found 4
groups. Two for the class of 1976, one for 1990, and one for all ALHS
alumni. I joined the group for
all alumni but there are only 13 members and no messages. I think the
group moderator of that group
is not letting messages get posted.

I decided to create a group there to check out the difference. I made
it similar to this group. Here's the
URL: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ALHS1979

I uploaded some pictures, but it was fairly painful. I had to pick
one at a time.
Facebook was much easier for this.

I added a contact list of everyone in our class. That might be useful.
I could get this same functionality by adding the spreadsheet to Google Docs.
(This would probably be a better way to go)

Anyway, pretty soon I'll have a reunion group everywhere you look :)
My goal is to have something free and easy for everyone.

Hi,
I created a temporary group in Yahoo - it is a free service and
appears to be relatively painless to join/add photos.

The group is "ALHS1979Chem" · Alta Loma High School Chemistry. I
added two (random) example photos. This is a "temporary" group so as
to allow Darryl to create an official ALHS 1979 group if he so
chooses.

Be a better pen pal. Text or chat with friends inside Yahoo! Mail. See how.

Time will tell, but having it all over the place is good, as it increases the chance of someone seeing it.  I have sent the info on to two others in our class that I have contact with.

Dan, I'll take all the help I can get. Thanks.

Deby, thanks for the encouraging words. I just hope people don't feel
like they're spending all of
their time joining groups :) You really should check out the Facebook
thing. Their picture upload
and tagging feature is really amazing.

Later.
