Updated and Corrected:

SWAM is hosting a HOLIDAY 100 x 100 Swim, and you're invited. It's this Saturday, December 23, at Bartlett starting at 8 am sharp and ending 2.5 hours later!

Here's how Saturday works:

There will be 100 intervals of 1:30, with swimmers choosing to swim 100s, 75s. or 50s. It’s up to the swimmer’s what distance they choose. Make it fun, or make it a challenge. (Anyone for 25X50 fly, 25X50 Back, 25X50 Breast, 25X50 Free?) They can even mix it up. The goal is to complete 100 swims. And to ALL be in it together.

Pool will be set to Long Course meters, so each 100 is almost 110 yards (109.3).

For such a long aerobic effort, it is recommended that swimmers bring nutritional supplementation in the form of Gatorade, GU, etc. 2 ½ hours is a long time, and the body will ‘bonk’ without supplementation.

If younger kids, (or even some Masters) want to set their goal at 20-30-50-75 swims, and wear fins, that’s fine too. The great thing is, you don’t even have to count. Every 15 minutes adds up to 10 swims. When they’ve had enough ‘team camaraderie’, just pop out and continue to cheer others on.

Event is open to all AKMS and USA Swimming members. Participants of all ages must know how basics of lane etiquette, circle swimming and passing. There will be "kids from 9 to 90" … challenge yourself and join the party!

Remember, arrive at least 15 mintues early for a prompt start. Bring $5 (to help pay for the pool), nutrition, your swim bag and a smile.

Hope to see you all on deck Saturday! Ruth
