Dear Members

There will be a very interesting 6 week course offered by an experienced teacher and meditator, trained at the famous Insight Meditation Society in the US. Once I clear up my schedule, I am keen to attend this.

Here's her advert:

This six-week course is an opportunity to study and practice the Buddha’s teachings on the Brahma-vihara or “sublime abidings,” the four skilful mind-states of:
universal friendliness (metta)
compassion (karuna)
appreciative joy (mudita)
equanimity (upekkha)

Each week there will be a short talk, a guided meditation, group discussion and some suggestions for continuing the brahma-vihara practices at home.  Please bring your own sitting cushion or bench, and pen and paper for taking notes.

Tuesday 8-9:30 p.m. June 25, July 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th
Location: Astanga Yoga Centre 308 Great North Road Grey Lynn
Cost: $40 for all six sessions to cover administration and venue hire, plus dana for the teacher
To register: contact Jill Shepherd via the About page of her website
