Respected Sir / Madam,
Greetings from South India Living With HIV/AIDS.
We bring to your humble knowledge that the ART Center at Tambaram Sanitarium is
not
supplying Second LINE ART Drug in time. The PLHIV who are receiving the second
Line ART through this center, are given limited dosage and directed to collect
the Second line ART after a short period of time
in the same month. Though the Second line ART is made available for PLHIV -who
are all ON
– ART like me, the regular dosage is not given for during this month. Instead
they are given only a part and advised to come back within 15 days to re –
collect the left out ART Drug. We went to the Tambaram Sanitarium ART Center on
this month of August, for it was our turn to collect 2nd line ART. But, we were
getting Second line for Fifteen Days only. We asked to them, that they haven’t
received all the drugs from NACO, but only single combination is available.
Now, we don’t have Second line ART drug to continue my next dose. This being the condition, how can we adhere
to ART Promptly? What will be your action & Responsibility if drug
resistance over comes me. It is better for us to go to NACO and self immolate,
if we do not get my Second line drugs in time. This poor adherence will lead to
the path of our death at the earliest. NACO spends crores of revenue on HIV Prevention
Programmes, but failed to address such issues like securing ART Regimens
without shortage to all PLHIV like me.
The Second line drugs have not been Stream lined and issued to the PLHIV, but
the PLHIV registration for the second line at Tambaram Sanitarium ART Center is
on the go. Many PLHIV will face Death due to shortage of Second line ART. The
Drug issued on irregular basis may also not work as expected, because they may
become resistant to the PLHIV who are in Second Line currently. Currently here
child pediatric second line ART drug is being openly distributed for the adult,
additionally they recommended to take more pills to compensate the adult drug
.the combination of drug which is currently given ABACAVIR LOPINAVIR and RITONAVIR,
TENOFOVIR and LAMIVUDUING. Above said combination of drugs only now
distributed, this is for your kind immediate attention. In connection to this
already we have informed to NACO not yet received any reply. We hereby humbly
recommend you to study the issue and arrive at a solution without any delay. We
request you humbly to consider the pathetic condition of the PLHIV who are on
second line ART at Tambaram Sanitarium ART Center. Failing to resolve immediately
shall result in loss of many precious lives of women & men living with HIV
who are currently on Second Line ART Regimen.
Note: these same issues in the all ART Centre in Tamilnadu.
