Hey all,

Just a heads-up about this camp, for families with a child with Cochlear Implant(s)
My family has attended this camp three separate years in the past, and absolutely loved it.
It is a great camp, in a beautiful setting (literally bordering Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado),
and is nearby, relatively speaking.
The information we received as parents was always helpful, and the activities for the kids are great, as is the staff.

As Judith says, this camp _always_ fills up very quickly - if you're interested, you should move quickly once registration opens.

To: cochlearcamp <cochle...@thecni.org>

Hi Everyone!   (message is being sent “blind copy” to about 400 camp families)

FIRST & FOREMOST…if you do not wish to receive emails about the CNI Cochlear Kids Camp (or it no longer applies to you because your CI Kid has graduated from high school, please contact us and we will remove your address from future mailings.  Thanks!

Moving on…

Registration for the 2013 CNI Cochlear Kids Camps will open on November 1, 2012 on a “first-come/first-served” basis.  Registration forms, waivers and information will be available on our website – www.thecni.org/hearing/kidscamp on November 1st (not before).   You must send in your payment, and the originals versions of the registration form, the photo release and all YMCA waivers.  We cannot accept scanned/emailed or faxed versions.

For the 2013 season, we are delighted to be offering two camp sessions again:

June 13-16  (lodge rooms in this session’s camp hold a maximum of 5 persons in Ram’s Horn Lodge)

July 25-28 (lodge rooms in this session’s camp hold a maximum of 6 persons in Alpen Lodge)

As in the past, the June camp will have some special activities that will appeal to the teens (such as the teen campout) and pre-teens (such as zipline time and events with the teens), while the July camp will be geared for families whose children are younger than that.  While any family CAN attend either session, we urge you to attend the camp where your CI Kid(s) will have the largest peer group.  So, if you need help understanding which camp may be right for your family, please don’t hesitate to email us with your questions or concerns.

Please note that the minimum age for CI Kids is 3 years of age at the time of the camp session.  The maximum age for CI Kids and siblings is high school graduates who have graduated in the months just prior to camp.  For example, if the CI Kid or sibling graduated in May or June of 2013, they are welcome to attend camp in June or July of 2013.  Our camps are not geared, nor able to accommodate, CI Kids or siblings older than recent high school graduates.

The base cost for the camp is $400 which covers up to 4 immediate family members (parent(s), CI kid(s) and sibling(s)).  Families with more than 4 immediate family members will pay $100 more per additional person.

In accordance with fire codes:

If yours is a family of 6 or more immediate family members (CI Kid(s), parent(s), and high school-aged or younger sibling(s)) and you are planning to attend the June session, you will need to reserve 2 rooms at a minimum of $400 each

If yours is a family of 7 or more immediate family members (CI Kid(s), parent(s), and high school-aged or younger sibling(s)) and you are planning to attend the July session, you will need to reserve 2 rooms at a minimum of $400 each

Your fee covers lodging, meals, activities, t-shirts, etc.  There is a separate charge for family members wishing to participate in the optional horseback ($15 per rider) or wagon rides ($5 per rider).  More information about those activities will be available on the website.

Please be aware that our camps cannot accommodate extended family members such as grandparents, nannies, cousins, etc.  If you are planning to attend as a single parent and have concerns about the need for an additional adult, please email us and we can provide some guidance.

Historically, our camps have filled fairly quickly and waitlists are not uncommon.  Please use your own judgment about sending in the registration materials once things are underway on November 1st.   We will be accepting a wide variety of credit cards as well as personal checks and money orders.

For those of you who are hoping to participate in camp this year, our best wishes and good luck to you.  For those who are taking a year off, we hope you have a wonderful 2013 and look forward to connecting with you again in the future.

Thanks again!!
