AG Bell has been approved by the following organizations to offer professional credentials at the AG Bell 2010 Biennial Convention:

  • AG Bell is pending approval from the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) to offer continuing education units.

Certificates of learning will also be available for educators or others who need documentation for state certification and licensure. Teachers should be sure to check with their respective state or local certifying body to determine whether hours earned at convention will be accepted.

There is a nominal fee of $15 for each certificate of learning, and per filing for continuing education credits and units for the AG Bell Academy, ASHA and AAA. Stay tuned to www.agbell2010convention.org for specific information on the number of credits and units offered per short course and concurrent session.

Short Courses That Deliver Big Value
The AG Bell Academy for Listening and Spoken Language conducted extensive research among educators and hearing health professionals to identify the core knowledge necessary for professionals to work with individuals living with hearing loss who seek a listening and spoken language outcome. This research culminated in the establishment of the Listening and Spoken Language Specialist certification (LSLS Cert. AVEd and LSLS Cert. AVT) and is based on the nine domains of knowledge necessary for proficiency as an educator or a therapist providing instruction in listening and spoken language skill development. The AG Bell Biennial Convention short courses are intensive 3 ½-hour workshops that reflect those domains. This year, 11 short courses are being offered by the most acclaimed professionals in their field. Here’s just a sampling of what you can expect with this year’s convention short courses:

  • Facilitating Auditory-Verbal Learning for Children with Impaired Executive Functioning – Domain 4: Child Development
  • Ladder to Literacy: A Six-Step Process – Doman 9: Emergent Literacy
  • Supporting Optimal Listening and Learning in Everyday Classrooms – Domain 6: Strategies for LSLS Development
  • (Re)Habilitation for Teens and Tweens Post Cochlear Implantation – Domain 2: Auditory Functioning
