I'm in teh US right now and I had a chance to look at the link that the PTA banned. It's an anti-Islam video. It runs for about four minutes, it's animated and it involves a pig called Allah shitting on the Qur'an and talking about how Muhammad (pbuh) was born. I feel that even saying these words will cause lightning bolts to fall on me, so I won't tell you anymore details. Suffice it to say that, if it ever becomes big, you can expect more riots. It's truly offensive, much more offensive than the cartoons.
Having said that, I don't understand why a) the government needs to ban this and b) why an ISP can't just block on particular video. Why does it have t block the entire domain? I didn't get it with blogpsot either. Please explain this to a tech unsavvy person.
As for the government: I saw the video, I flagged it, I reported its contents as hate speech offensive to a religious group and my guess is, it will gt taken off in a dy or two and the user banned. I feel that the private sector has and can create its own safeguards against this sort of thing. I don't think the governmnt should be involved at all.
Anyway. That's my two cents.
