In order to post convienently, download blogger for word. This is an
add-on to MS Word that allows you to type your blog post into Word,
click on a button and have MS Word communicate directly with the
blogger servers, thereby enabling you to bypass the firewall. I've
actually been using it for many months. It's far more convienent that
going to the blogger.com site directly and posting from there.
NOTE: If you can't find the blogger for word extension outside the
blocked blogger.com site, feel free to email me at drpak-at-gmail.com
and I'll email the extention to you.
For Internet Explorer: Right click on the comments and select 'Copy
Shortcut' and paste it to your browser's address bar.
For Firefox: Right Click and select 'Copy Link Location' and then
paste it to your browser's address bar.
Go.
Danial
i've posted this at Global Voices as well, there IS a SIMPLE way to get
around the filters:
just append the blog url by adding: nyud.net:8080 or port 8090
so :
or
for example this blog:
http://darkcoldcoffee.blogspot.com/2006/03/censorship-but-in-wrong-direction.html
can be accessed by typing in:
http://darkcoldcoffee.blogspot.com.nyud.net:8090/2006/03/censorship-but-in-wrong-direction.html
I suggest bloggers in pakistan using port 8090 from now onwards because
port 8080 is receving a lot of traffic atm.
I've got in touch with the teams at blogger.com (blogger buzz, bloger
status and blogger development network) and they should be getting back
to us with some alternatives.
cheers,
angelo.
it's http://blogspot.com.nyud.net:8090
cheers!
Can someone also put up a list of IP anonymisers we can use?
Since port 8090 on the url is slow, please try this:
http://66.102.15.100.nyud.net:8090
or
http://66.102.15.100.nyud.net:8080
Pls let me know how this goes.
cheers,
angelo.
PS: ITI have blocked ip 66.102.15.101 & not 66.102.15.100 , btw
google's blogger team might issue alternate ips.
You can also use the Coral CDN as discussed earlier.
And, one of my favourites and fastest methods is the translation proxy
hack: http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/h/4807
Details are avaiable here:
http://ovais.khan.tripod.com/blogspot_blocked.html
regards,
Ovais
http://ovaiskhan.blogspot.com/ (via google translation proxy:
http://www.google.com/translate?langpair=en|en&u=http://ovaiskhan.blogspot.com)
i suggest using proxies located in Turkey & Qatar as they're closer to
Pakistan, however the list here is long and updated in realtime.
for example, here's Neha's blog - Gloabl Voices' South Asia Editor's blog:
http://www.blogger.com.nyud.net:8080/comment.g?blogID=7579662&postID=114143027639482440&isPopup=true
using the url above, try commenting there..
if it doesn't work, please let me know...
the easy way to post comments using CDN, is right click on the
comments link, append it with the nyud bit in teh browser address bar
and hit enter.
cheers,
angelo.
In order to provide an easy work-around
the blockade of blogspot blogs in Pakistan, I have written a simple firefox extension "httProxy
" using which you can access any blocked page using the pre-defined set of proxies with a handy button beside the location bar and options on context menus.
And i guess it a great time for everyone who doesn't have firefox, to
download the latest version - 1.5 here:
http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-1.5.0.1&os=win&lang=en-US
Ovais, is it possible to throw in pre-defined proxy values on a weekly
basis, and update the download on the ff extensions page until someone
else contributes to making the extension user-defined? Maybe later on
we could do a simple auto-fetch for new proxy listings from the
extension on the task bar.
thanks,
angelo.
Auto-fetching proxy list is a good idea and is on my list of todo's; as
is user-defined proxies, supporting more proxy types (that use hashes
instead of URLs) and auto access of configured pages via default proxy,
but do won't have time for the next couple of weeks. Anyone who can
spend some time on these features is welcome, we can easilly
collaborate via mozdev.

Ovais
